Blackall Range Woodcrafters Guild Inc (“BRWG”) recently received a grant of $4,050 towards the cost of BRWG’s 30-year History Project.
The Project was to research and electronically record the history of the Guild from 1996 to date. After researching experienced and qualified history writers, BRWG has identified an eminently qualified freelance writer, ghostwriter, researcher and editor named Judy Fredrikson who has completed this stage of the project.
Judy has now carried out and researched the records of the 30-year history of the Guild, interviewed past presidents and present members and other knowledgeable persons, and has written and electronically recorded the Guild history. It includes how the Guild began in 1996 with 6 people interested in woodworking, agreeing to pursue their hobby by establishing the Blackall Range Woodcrafters Guild, why it was to be a guild and not just a Club, how it met at member’s houses initially, used each others’ tools, how it began making and donating toys and other woodcraft for the benefit of other non-profit community organisations on the Sunshine Coast and further afield.
